The ÖKO L3 filter
to survive in the wild

Features of the L3 ÖKO Ultra-Filtering Straw

High-performance filtration
Removes up to 99.997% of bacteria, parasites, and protozoa ≥ 0.1 microns in size without the use of chemicals, ensuring higher-quality water.

Perfect for adventurers and travelers in high-risk areas
Designed for hikers, trekkers, and travelers exploring remote areas or regions with limited water supplies.

High filtration capacity
Can be used with up to 1,000 liters of water, providing long-lasting performance in natural environments. Up to 3,000 liters if rinsed after each use.
How do I use the L3 filter kit with an ÖKO water bottle?
The L3 ÖKO filter is compatible with the 650 ml and 1-liter ÖKO water bottles.
Simply insert the filter straw into the ÖKO water bottle in place of the L2 filter, and drink right away.
It can be used WITHOUT the water bottle—just dip the filter into the water and suck through the tube!
It serves as a backup in case you lose your ÖKO water bottle!
The built-in filtration system measurably reduces more than 200 pollutants; see the test results (on the dedicated page) from COFRAC-accredited laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025).

Comparison of ÖKO Filters: L3 vs. L2

L3 Filter: The Ultimate Solution
Technology
Hollow fibers with a diameter of 0.1 microns (1/10,000 of a millimeter).
Performance
What is filtered: Bacteria, E. coli, microorganisms, parasites, protozoa, Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium, and other contaminants larger than 0.1 microns.
What passes through: Particles smaller than 0.1 microns.
Recommended for
Rugged filtration for questionable water ortravel to high-risk countries.
Visit our page on different countries and recommended filtration levels to determine whether the L3 filter will be sufficient or if additional treatment will be necessary.
L2 Filter: Versatility for Everyday Use
Technology
1.2-micron calibrated hollow fibers + electro-adsorption (technology developed by NASA).
Electro-adsorption: Attracts negatively charged particles as small as 1 micron (including viruses as small as 0.01 microns), providing ultra-fine filtration across a wide range of contaminants.
Performance
What is filtered:Bacteria, viruses, pesticides, herbicides, E. coli, microorganisms, parasites, protozoa, Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium, chlorine, heavy metals, PFAS, endocrine disruptors, and certain particles as small as 1 micron (thanks to electro-adsorption).
What passes through: Particles not captured by electroadsorption (primarily mineral salts)
Key benefit
Balanced filtration designed for non-potable applications.
Recommended for
Balanced filtration designed for daily use at the tap.
Filtering non-potable water from sources with low to moderate sediment levelswhile traveling, hiking, or trekking.
Visit our dedicated page to find out if the L2 filter will be sufficient for your trip.
