The Swig™ filtering straw purifies non-potable water using an electro-adsorption process and acts against bacteria, viruses and other contaminants present in water sources.

It's ideal for emergency and survival situations (loss of water bottle, hiking, travel or natural disasters).

It uses the same NASA-derived filtration media as ÖKO water bottles.

The SWIG works by suction and can be stored anywhere given its size and weight (survival bag, backpack, handbag, travel bag or in an easily accessible place in the event of natural disasters).

Demonstration Straw filter swig non-potable river water

Filtration technology developed by NASA for non-drinking water

NASA-derived electro-adsorption technology that triggers a positive charge field on contact with water + a mechanical filtration system with pores calibrated to 1.2 microns.
This technology is identical to the one featured on our filtering water bottle, which has been a unanimous success since its launch in 2018.

Straw filter Swig trekking survival

Ideal backup filtration system

Swig™ straw eliminates bacteria, viruses, pesticide residues and other contaminants present in non-potable outdoor water sources (rivers, lakes, fountains, ...). It's your fallback solution for natural disasters (floods, running water cuts, devastating hurricanes).

You can safely drink non-drinkable outdoor water until the drinking water network is restored, for example.

FAQ

How long does the Swig™ filter straw last?

The SWIG straw has no expiration date. You can keep it for many, many years, using it only when the situation calls for it.

It's efficient and can be used as often as you like, as long as you haven't used up the 760 L of filtration. It's a precious product that we all hope to keep for the rest of our lives...

Which countries are sufficiently filtered by ÖKO EUROPE?

ÖKO Europe's filtration is functional and sufficient in many countries.

You'll find the list in the detailed table here.

There are now more than 120 countries.

Can I drink non-potable water from lakes, fountains, rivers or puddles with ÖKO EUROPE filter straws?

Yes, during natural disasters (stagnant water). Rivers, lakes, fountains, undrinkable tap water, torrents etc. etc. By cleaning the mouthpiece, it can be shared between people in the same place. Less hygienic than our ÖKO water bottle (it works by pressure), it nevertheless keeps you alive, which is the strength of this straw.
